Hi All, My Techer's teacher.. Cheng Man Ching...in Nyc once, was asked about the tibet art of tumo...ie: generating strong body heat when in cold weather.. sone can even dry cold wet sheets, placed on their bare bodies.. in icy cold climates... it is said.. CMC said the art was proven and explained how it worked.. adding that he could do the same, and could keep himself warm.. in cold weather, using the art. Later the group went out for dinner and CMC put on a long warm roble..as it was cold out.. a member of the class was surprised and asked why CMC did not use Tumo to keep warm..if he could really do it.. CMC said.. because it is more ez to put on a robe.. the class laughted.. but CMC wondered what was so funny ! note CMC , in fact, spoke a good deal of english.. but almost all his teaching was in chinese... Tam or another aide had to translate to the class... CMC thought it was disrspectful to his culture to teach in english .. tho he could have taught a lot more in english.. and been more ez to understand.. but CMC was ' old school ' and respect was very important to him...
